Beauty | Jo Malone
Let’s talk about scents. I was never a perfume girl… there I said it (no I did not stink either). I got perfumes for my birthday occasionally or I would try a perfume. I would use them don’t get me wrong but I was never that girl “without my perfume I feel naked”. For my 24th birthday, family friends got me my first small sized Jo Malone perfume in “Orange blossom”. At first the scent surprised me a little but then it grew on me. I started to reach for it a lot more. And then stopped using it…
Last year, I went to Paris with my “bestest” of friends. As we were at the “Bonmarché” I asked her whether it was a problem if we went to try perfumes at Jo Malone. Not only are the people there lovely they clearly know their products well and listen to what you have to say (since then I have been to other counters and the service is always on point). I explained to the lovely lady that I didn’t like anything too strong and that I was more into citrusy and flower scents. She made me try “Nectarine blossom”, “English Pear and Freesia” and some others I can’t remember right now. I ended up getting “English Pear and Freesia” because after leaving the counter for something like 30 minutes I could not get the smell out of my mind.
The lady told me I could layer the perfume I got with other ones, so a few months later I went back and got “Nectarine blossom and honey”. And a few months ago I hesitated between “Peony and blush suede” and “Blackberry and bay” and ended with the latter one. Not to quote JB, but never say never. I always thought perfumes were not for me but Jo Malone’s products drive me crazy the scents are incredible. Also of minor importance, I adore the packaging, it is sleek and elegant and the smaller format is perfect for travelling.
So what about you? Do you have a signature scent?
